The Razorbacks are now actively looking for new members for their Junior team this season. After a great season last year , we're looking to replace quite a number of "graduating" players.
The requirements are very open: you must be between 14 and 18 on the 1st January and you must have a desire to learn a great team sport - that's about it! All levels of athletic ability, size, strength, speed etc. are accepted, so bring a few friends with you as it is a great game to play with mates. And yes, if you are female and want to play, you are welcome too - we've had female players at both senior and junior levels so you won't have to be the first!
Trainings are held at our clubgrounds on Mondays and Wednesdays and will start on or about the first week in April. Costs are kept to a minimum to allow you to "try before you buy" so to speak and all equipment (with the exception of shoes) is provided by the club. Please contact us via email or phone if you would like more details.
HISTORY
While the senior Razorbacks are the most successful gridiron club in Australia, our Juniors are still in their infancy. We have been running for 4 years now and we've worked our way up each season to get to the co-premiership last year - with hopes and expectations of more this season.
Along the way, we've produced a number of starters in the seniors, a large number of junior award winners, plenty of state representatives and even a number of national representatives. Our style of play changes from year to year, depending on the talents of our players but our philosophy does not change. It is based around just a few simple concepts:
- Discipline - Commitment - Pride
All three of these ideas are linked together, but discipline is the core. We train and teach discipline in both gridion activities and life in general. We expect a commitment to the team and the work required to become a gridiron player. We have pride, without arrogance, in our team and emphasise the good of the team over the individual.
We want to build your love and knowledge of the game, so you'll be trained by experienced people with a passion for the sport. Trainings are an upbeat, changing time as we emphasise action with very little "just standing around".
If this sounds good to you, please contact the club for more information. Don't worry if you don't know much about the game or feel like you aren't big enough / fast enough / strong enough or anything like that.
WE'VE NEVER TURNED ANY PLAYER AWAY - AND WE'RE NOT ABOUT TO START NOW!
Your participation gives you ownership, pride and a sense of community. Be an active part of the Razorback Family.
